Stories behind the shots

Sunset, storms and sand

A storm was approaching as I was driving through Lancelin at sunset. I grabbed the camera as these adventurers stopped to enjoy the strange colours created by the setting sun and gloomy storm clouds. Shot March 2021.

Ode to the moon

An early morning two days after the full moon. There weren't a lot of waves on offer but the crowds were thin and the wind was light. I didn't think much of this shot in the moment but it has since become one of my favourites of all time. Shot Nov 2020.

Pre-dawn peaks

Since moving to albany, it's become a ritual to take visiting friends on a pre-dawn hike to watch the sun rise on the stirling ranges. This morning a friend and I climbed Talyuberlup Peak to be rewarded with this view. Shot May 2022.

Origin story

This shot was taken on my first ever swim with a water housing. there was big swell and strong currents but i was excited to take my first ever surf pics. this is the only decent shot from the day but i was so happy with it. Shot Mettams Pool June 2020.

Almost my beach

a 30 minute drive from my house on a hairy 4wd track is Casey's beach. with the sun shining and the swell non-existent, i sent the drone up for a birds eye view. the drive home took 90 minutes and required the max-tracks. Shot Jan 2022

Scarbs green room

A saturday morning swim with one of my favourite surf photographers at the most packed beach in perth. This shot took patience and the right wave to line up a cheeky barrel and the iconic observation tower. Shot Oct 2020
